Moving is such a stressful time...with deadlines looming, i.e. narrow truck rental windows, storage space rentals, apt lease final walk-throughs fast approaching, my father and I found ourselves overwhelmed trying to pack and prepare. Jeremy and crew appeared, and it felt like we had three friends backing us up to get through it. The apt was so full of stuff (boxes and loose items), that it was difficult to walk around in there. They quickly assessed the scale and scope of the job, and got right to work. Throughout the day, they kept the mood light and never once seemed irritated, put off or impatient with the task at hand. They were constantly communicating with us and each other about what was going out next, where it would go, and how it would be loaded on the truck. They never stopped.. best I could tell, they never even coasted! 3 men, 7 hours!!! I still don't know how you did it?? :) As the day progressed, it became apparent that all we had in the townhouse was not going to fit on our 26' truck. No problem. Once filled, and I mean completely filled...(these guys know how to load)...Jeremy moved my full truck out of the way, and proceeded to fill the truck he came in with our overflow that would go into local storage for another day. Again, we were in trouble once we realized everything wouldn't fit on the truck, because we had to be out of the apt that evening. Without Shelly Moving, Jeremy and crew's willingness to improvise and accommodate, I would have been in a very costly jam. He made it clear, they intended to stay with us until the job was done. Which really meant in our case, not when the allotted time had expired, but when our problem was solved. Moving is a stressful experience, and any anxieties or questions that came up, Earl would reassure me it would be handled and he had a solution for everything. It all went off without a hitch. There's really no words to describe how great they were. The day of the move, Petra was on vacation, but she offered that I could call her on her cell if I needed anything. WOOHOOOOOOOOOOOO YOU GUYS ROCK!!!!! haha I got several quotes, and Petra BY FAR exceeded the competition in her professionalism, her knowledge of rules/regulations, and HELPFUL tips on what we could do to make the move all that much easier. I was beyond confident in her and her promises, which I cannot say of the competing quotes. One company didn't even come out to assess our move. The other company came out, but clearly didn't know nearly as much as Petra did. Mike and Theresa were quick, friendly, and respectful of my time. They did an excellent job packing our valuables. Everything was protected and (so far!) nothing has been unpacked that was broken (and most everything has been unpacked!) I was home alone with my 5 month old while they packed, and I felt safe and comfortable and able to tend to my baby with ease. These two are amazingly fast yet efficient. Tim, Paul, and (was his name Ted? sorry, I can't remember the third man's name<TONY> ;) were each super heroes in my eyes. Man, I can't believe how quickly they moved my life's belongings (and some were VERY heavy including an upright piano, a 52 inch projection screen TV, and full, huge dressers!!). They picked up these items as if they were feathers. My jaw was dropped with each new item. They were professional, courteous, and EFFICIENT. Ladies, I am beyond satisfied with my experience with Shelly Moving and you can absolutely use me as a reference. I cannot tell you how much stress you have lifted from my shoulders. Although I had plenty of time I am a bit of a procrastinator and left too many things to the last minute. The men that came to point A were helpful and professional. I was not quite ready when they arrived and they were able to work around me as I was throwing things into boxes. They arrived earlier than expected and came with extra boxes as a just in case. There was a bit of confusion over the delivery date, which was my fault. I changed the pick up several times and that impacted the delivery. The men that handles transport and unloading were also very helpful and professional. They unloaded at the house and also at the storage unit. A few items were delivered to the house that should have gone to storage and vice versa, however, I have been able to correct that. The items that came to the house are in perfect condition. I have yet to check the stored items, however I suspect they are fine. As is a norm in Florida, the weather changed unexpectedly mid unpack and very strong rains began to fall. The men covered my belongings to prevent them from getting wet which I appreciated. We had a bit of a snafu at the storage facility. They had rented my unit, which I had a contract on and payment had been made, to another party because I did not have a lock on the unit. Luckily the office was still open and the clerk was able to rectify the situation in minimal time. The men were very patient while this was underway. " -D.M. Neither one of my two brothers (the new home owner and another brother from Alabama who came to lend a hand also) had ever seen a moving company go to the lengths your men did to protect the doors, corners of walls, hardwood floors, etc.!! At one time I thought I was going to request a move of the heaviest piece in my move and they were more than happy to do that for us; fortunately we decided against moving that monster of a piece of furniture!! From working with Dan (agent) to Alex (driver), we felt as though we could have real and candid conversations about moving plans, concerns, and problem-solving. One of the deciding factors was Shelly's willingness to disassemble and re-assemble two home office desks made of particle board. Even though we knew of the risk that they would not travel well or re-assemble well, it was important to us to try. We were not disappointed." What could we have done to improve your moving experience? " The only glitch was a communication gap with Dan. It could have been clearer that just because Dan gave us an estimate did not mean that Shelly was holding the move dates temporarily for us. By the time we accepted Dan's estimate, the dates we had settled on were fully scheduled at Shelly. Unfortunately, we had already informed the pastor moving in behind us when we were moving out - so he and the church were planning accordingly. To Dan's credit, he worked hard to collaborate on a solution. In the end, the solution worked out better than the initial moving plans. Many thanks to Dan and the dispatcher."
